UFC 89 Bisping vs Leben Fight Analysis Prediction

The main event for UFC 89 features Michael Bisping vs Chris Leben on Oct 18, 2008 and will take place in England. There is no doubt that Bisping will have the fans behind him as he is the most popular British MMA Fighter. UFC 89 will air FREE on Spike TV so that is an added bonus.

Chris Leben (18-4-0) is a very aggressive striker. He’s got knockout power in both hands and has an amazingly strong chin, probably because he has a huge head. Surprisingly Leben has held a good position among the UFC Middleweights, despite the fact that he lacks a ground game. Look for Leben to come out with guns blazing as he likes to get in the face of all his opponents.

Michael Bisping (17-1-0) is also a very good striker as well, however, Bisping does not have devastating power, but has very crisp and technical strikes. His standup is excellent and has great footwork to position himself quickly with different striking angles. Wrestling is also one of Bisping’s strengths and has a great takedown defense, which probably is not needed against Leben.

In my opinion, I think that Bisping has the advantage. If the fight stays standing, Bisping is quicker on his feet and can definitely keep up with Leben’s fury. However, standing and striking with Leben is risky, as Leben is going for the knockout 100% of the time. Bisping should instead focus on taking the fight to the ground where he can have the upper hand and can control the fight.
