Brock Lesnar Defeats Heath Herring UFC 87

August 11, 2008 by MMA Monkey· Filed Under Uncategorized ·

When Lesnar opened up the fight with with a strong right punch that literally sent Herring tumbling end over end, I was shocked. Then to make things even more intense, Lesnar explodes into a head first bull-rush to capitalize on his downed opponent. Lesnar exhibited the strength and speed like an animal. Throughout the fight he overpowered and dominated Herring…and Lesnar wins his first UFC match.

But here’s the question: Is Brock Lesnar the Real Deal?

Probably…. Its quite obvious that Lesnar is a gifted athlete, has the strength to manhandle a 250lb man in the octagon and is progressing in his technique. (even only a little bit)

But one thing is for sure, we haven’t seen Lesnar take a punch or go for openings/submissions that more experience MMA fighters would do. Yes, Brock Lesnar is superior athlete and will be a dominating force, but he still has PLENTY to learn and experience.

For one, I don’t like the antics Lesnar displayed when the last bell rang at the end of round 3. Lesnar mocked and pointed at Herring. Which was very disrespectful. Basically, Lesnar was pretending that he was riding a horse and swinging a lasso around, blatantly mocking Heath “the Texas Crazy Horse” Herring. Lesnar needs to grow up and realize that part of being a MMA fighter is to respect your opponents…. It’s one thing to talk smack and hype up the contest… but to mock someone after defeating them is just not cool.

Anyways, whether you like him or not, Brock Lesnar has gained A LOT more attention…and we’ll probably see more of him soon.

[...] Brock Lesnar’s recent victory over Heath Herring in UFC 87, has gained plenty of attention. Lesnar is a NCAA wrestling champion and a WWE superstar who recently began a career in MMA. Although, many people don’t believe that Lesnar is the “real deal”, he proved his strength and power by dominating a very formidable opponent with Heath Herring. Also, the UFC president, Dana White seems to be impressed, and we will probably be seeing more Brock Lesnar UFC fights very soon. [...]
